Is There Splitscreen Co-Op Multiplayer in Modern Warfare Remastered? Answered
Here’s everything you need to know about whether there is splitscreen co-op multiplayer in Modern Warfare Remastered.
One of the best and most popular online shooters of the 21st century, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, is one of the PS Plus free games of March 2019. Since it’s an older game, the modes might be a little different to how you expect.
In recent Call of Duty games, co-op multiplayer has been a feature of many modes, but, while co-op is more prominent than in the original release, it’s all a bit different in the remaster to recent titles.
Modern Warfare Remastered Online Modes
Unlike the original game, back on PS3 and Xbox 360, Modern Warfare Remastered allows for co-op multiplayer online. You can jump into the same lobby in split-screen, then when you search for a match, you’ll both join at the same time, on the same team.
Before searching for a game, make sure that the second controller is turned on. Once it is, you should be prompted just under player one’s name in the player list to press X to be added to the lobby.
However, since classic Call of Duty multiplayer modes, such as Headquarters and Team Deathmatch, were the only multiplayer modes in CoD 4, there is no Zombies mode or anything similar in Modern Warfare Remastered.
Co-op Multiplayer in Campaign and Offline
Unfortunately, there is no way to play Modern Warfare Remastered’s campaign in co-op. That shouldn’t be a huge surprise, though, since the original release didn’t allow for it either.
However, if you’re looking for multiplayer that’s not with other players online, you can join an offline lobby and face off against each other. However, unfortunately, it is only for two players, rather than four as the original game was. That’s as far as it goes for multiplayer offline in the game.
