First things first, you’re going to need a Call of Duty or COD account created through Activision’s servers. You’ll be given the opportunity to create an account when you first boot up the game, and you only need to provide your email address and password to get started.

You can also create your profile at Activision’s website.

Once you’re all set, you can start adding people to your friends list via your COD account, then log into Modern Warfare with your account details.

After that, it’s basically the same process as playing with people on your platform-specific friends list. From the multiplayer menu, bring up your social menu and you’ll see your friends list from your COD account. You can then join in on their play sessions, or send them an invite to join yours instead.

It’s worth noting that both PS4 and Xbox One have keyboard and mouse support so that you’ll be on an even playing field with the PC players. You can also stick with controller when playing against PC players, if that’s what you’d prefer.
