With the release of the dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons, players will be able to team up with friends to take on mobs of enemies and grind out better gear. As the game is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch, there’s ample reason to ask what the deal is with Minecraft Dungeons cross platform multiplayer, its cross save system and more.
Minecraft Dungeons Cross Platform Multiplayer Explained
Minecraft Dungeons currently does not have cross platform multiplayer meaning you’re only able to play with those on the same platform as you. For example, if you’re playing on Xbox One, you wouldn’t be able to play with a friend playing on PS4.
This isn’t going to be the case forever though. Microsoft has confirmed that Minecraft Dungeons will have cross play multiplayer in the future as part of an update for the game, but no release date has been provided for this as of yet.
As soon as Minecraft Dungeons cross play functionality is resolved, we’ll be sure to update this post and explain the process of playing cross platform multiplayer with your friends.
Minecraft Dungeons Cross Platform Saves Explained
At release, Minecraft Dungeons will not support cross platform saves either. This means that if you start playing the game on Xbox One and then load it up on PC, your saved progress will not be available on the PC version. Instead, you’ll have to start over on every single platform you play Minecraft Dungeons on.
There’s no word on whether or not this will be introduced as part of a future update. As and when we get any word on this, we’ll update this post once again and let you know.
