Minecraft 1.11: How to Find Woodland Mansions

How to Find Woodland Mansions – Minecraft 1.11

Recommended Videos

Minecraft’s 1.11 update added an entirely new structure to the game: Woodland Mansions. These large buildings generate in Roofed Forests, and feature oddities like fighting rings, giant chicken statues, and of course, treasure.

Because they generate so rarely, and often very far from spawn, there’s a couple of ways to reliably find Woodland Mansions out in the world. The first is through a woodland explorer map, purchaseable from the new cartographer villager (they can be found in villages, wearing white coats). The map will appear as a Tier 4 trade costing you 16-28 Emerald and a compass. Once obtained, it’ll show the location of a Woodland Mansion, though not always the closest one. The top of the map is always North, and the dot on the map is you. Figure out what compass direction you need to run in, and press F3 to find your compass direction under “Facing.”

You can also try using the /locate Mansion prompt to find nearby Mansion locations, but if you’re too far away for locate to work, then you’re best grabbing a woodland explorer map.

Alternatively, you can try inputting your world’s seed into this Woodland Mansion finder. It’ll generate coordinates for mansions in that world, and we’ve found it to be pretty accurate.

And lastly, you can just run around Minecraft like a madman hoping to run into just the right Roofed Forest. We do not recommend this, but you do you.
