Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Install Size

Microsoft Flight Simulator requires at least 127.01 GB of free space on your hard drive to install. That’s according to the game’s official Microsoft Store page.

What is worth pointing out, however, is that the game splits this install into numerous folders on your PC, with different assets being located in different places. As such, it can make getting an exact number for the install size a little trickier than we’d hoped.

Either way, you’ll need 150 GB of free space in order to install the game, despite the install size coming in at the aforementioned 127.01 GB.

Given the fact that Microsoft Flight Simulator uses data from Bing’s map data to help populate its virtual Earth in such detail, you’d be forgiven for thinking the install size should be much bigger. The reality, however, is that a lot of this data isn’t installed on your PC but is instead powered by Microsoft’s Cloud servers and is streamed over the internet to your PC.

Could the Install Size Get Bigger?

Yes, it could! If developer Asobo Studios opts to add more aircraft, further detail some areas of the world, or just add more content in any other form into the game, then you can expect the install size for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 to get a fair bit bigger.

The first paid DLC expansions that we know is coming to the game includes helicopters. It’ll also feature a selection of helipads, playable missions, and other bits and pieces to make these craft truly feel at home within Microsoft Flight Simulator.

That’s everything you need to know about the Microsoft Flight Simulator download and install size. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to head over to our guide wiki, or check out more of our coverage below.
