Metroid Samus Returns: How Long It Is and How Many Areas There Are

How Long Is Metroid: Samus Returns?

Recommended Videos

Metroid: Samus Returns finally brings back the beloved Nintendo series after years of not getting a full-blown entry. Although it’s a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus, the new 3DS title practically feels like an entirely new game with a 2.5D art style and a number of gameplay enhancements. The remake mostly follows the same story as Metroid II, although it does feel quite a bit longer than the original.

The world of SR388 in the game is comprised of eight different areas, each of which will require you to hunt down and collect Metroids. There’s plenty of backtracking to do though, if you want to explore or collect more items during your journey.

Our own playthrough of the game clocked in at nine hours, according to the game. Of course, accounting for deaths and retries that time is bumped up by roughly two hours. That means in total an average playthrough of Metroid: Samus Returns should take you between 10-15 hours. Keep in mind, of course, this time can drastically change depending on how many power-ups you want to collect along the way.
