Maneater isn’t just a silly shark game. It’s actually a fully-fledged open-world RPG full of quests, collectibles, and ways to grind. As you’re exploring the underwater world, occasionally venturing to the surface to eat humans, you’ll want to make sure that you’re not losing XP and progress. So that you’re not wasting any time, here’s everything you need to know about how to save in Maneater.

Saving in Maneater

Thankfully, Maneater saves your progress automatically pretty regularly. After completing a mission, finding a collectible, or even leaving a sector’s grotto, the game will save for you.

You’ll be able to tell that it is doing so when a little shark fin and the word saving appears briefly in the top right corner of the screen. Do note though, that you’ll start from the nearest grotto next time you load up the game, rather than just out in the open.

If you’re not sure whether your progress has been saved and are looking for a more surefire option, we have bad news. Maneater does not have a manual save feature. The only way to save before you quit the game is to do something meaningful like start a quest or return to the grotto.

We never had any issues with losing progress due to it being a while between autosaves, so don’t worry about just quitting and coming back to where you were. It’s unlikely to happen at this point, but if a manual save feature is added to the game in a future update, we’ll be sure to let you know here.
