Keep Warm – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s huge, open world has different climates in different areas. One of those climates involves lots of snow and freezing temperatures which are very dangerous for Link and can kill him. You’ll have to do something to keep him warm if you want to explore these areas.
The first option at your disposal is to cook meals using Spicy Peppers, as these add a temporary, low-level cold resistance. You can cook the peppers with apples or meat, and the resulting perk will allow you to safely traverse the earlier cold areas.
The second option is clothing. There are two items that you’ll want, though they’re gathered during different parts of the game. The first is the Warm Doublet which offers a permanent low-level cold resistance. It can be found at the top of Mount Hylia. Make your way to the peak and the Old Man will congratulate for doing so without having the right clothes. He’ll then give you the Warm Doublet to help you keep warm.
The second set of clothing is needed to survive later cold areas such as the Rito Test Range, Hebra Mountains, and the Tabantha Tundra. It is called the Snowquill set and can be purchased in Rito Village. There are three parts and they’re all expensive:
- Snowquill Headdress- 1,000 Rupees
- Snowquill Tunic – 600 Rupees
- Snowquill Trousers – 550 Rupees
Wearing any of the three pieces raises the cold resistance buff by a bit, but a full set will make you completely immune to the cold.
That’s all you need to know to keep warm in the game. For more on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, be sure to check out our wiki.
