While The Last of Us Part 2 is a mostly linear affair, there are plenty of side areas to explore off the beaten path and the game often rewards you for taking the time to explore. For those who check out abandoned buildings and the like, there are often a bunch of useful resources and items to scavenge. Sometimes, these are hidden behind locked doors or within safes. Here’s the garage safe code in The Last of Us Part 2.
What the Garage Safe Code is in The Last of Us Part 2
Ellie’s search for Tommy takes her to the suburb of Hillcrest. But she’s not the only one there, unfortunately. This area is riddled with WLF and infected, and it’s one of the harder sections of The Last of Us Part 2 up until that point.
While exploring some of the abandoned shops, you might have come across the Auto Repair Garage, which you will have had to move a dumpster to get inside. If you haven’t already: beware, there are infected inside.
Once you’ve cleared them, you’ll find a safe that requires a specific combination, which you’ll only know if you also explored the tattoo parlor opposite — a note on the whiteboard that gives the code away (watch out for the Shambler). But if you missed it: 30-82-65 is the sequence you’re after.
As for what’s inside, that rather depends on whether you found the Long Gun Strap earlier in the game or not. If you have, you’ll likely get the Short Gun Holster, otherwise it’ll be the Strap. Both are very useful regardless of which you get, allowing you to switch quickly between weapons in the heat of combat.
Pro tip: you can actually “crack” safes in the last of us by listening for a change in sound when cycling through the numbers. It can be a little time consuming, but all safes can be opened without the code if you listen for that slightly different noise when the correct number has been entered. Now you know this code, try it out and listen for the noise we’re referring to.
That does it for what the garage safe code is in The Last of Us Part 2. For more useful tips and guides on the game, be sure to check out Twinfinite’s guide wiki page.
