The Last of Us 2 is finally out in the wild, and it continues the journey of main protagonists Joel and Ellie. As you might recall from the first game, the pair ran into a group of giraffes towards the end of the story. It was a pretty significant part of the game, and if you’re wondering whether there are any giraffes in The Last of Us 2, we’ve got you covered. Here’s what you need to know.
Are There Giraffes in The Last of Us 2?
In short, no, there are no giraffes in The Last of Us 2 in the way that you might be expecting. There are certainly other animals you can encounter in the game, like dogs and zebras, and you might see the occasional rabbit darting around from time to time. However, there don’t seem to be any giraffes in there.
That said, there is a little giraffe moment early on in the game. When you’re out on patrol as Ellie, you can come across a little giraffe plush toy in a store. You can also interact with it and examine it, and Ellie will make a note of it in her journal.
Other than that, though, we haven’t encountered any actual giraffes in the game.
In the first game, these animals signified a rare moment of peace where Ellie and Joel could finally rest for a bit and take in the sights. It’s also a significant moment for Ellie as it was the first time she’d seen them, and continues to feed her penchant for learning and discovering new things.
Considering that the theme of the second game is much darker and lot different from the first one, it’s not all that surprising that we wouldn’t get another giraffe moment like this one.
That’s all you need to know about whether there are giraffes in The Last of Us 2. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
