The latest game in the long-running Battlefield series, Battlefield 2042, has been released and fans are able to take their skills into a near-futuristic setting where robo-dogs, tornados, and amphibious vehicles of destruction reign supreme. If you’re here, you’re probably wondering if Battlefield 2042 is splitscreen. Or, in other words, if it has an option to play with a buddy online or just locally at least via splitscreen. We’ll address both of those concerns.
Does Battlefield 2042 Have Local or Online Splitscreen Multiplayer?
Let’s cut right to the chase. Currently, Battlefield 2042 does not offer splitscreen online multiplayer of any kind. There’s really no way to get around this. While some modern FPS games allow you to link up a second controller, go splitscreen, and play online with a friend, Battlefield 2042 does not. In fact, sadly, this practice has started to fall out of favor in recent years. Instead, companies are preferring tightly balanced and controlled multiplayer environments that do not have to account for a second person playing from the same account.
Unfortunately, there is also not an option for even local splitscreen play. So no, you won’t be able to settle your differences with a buddy with a 1v1 or anything of that nature. Nor can you play manhunt in one of the game’s massive maps.
You’ll just have to imagine what that would be like for now unless DICE decides to add it one day. Don’t hold your breath though, the chances of this happening are sadly slim to none. We won’t say impossible but, the idea of a developer in this day and age going out of their way for local players in a game that is entirely online is pretty out there.
Well, that’s everything you need to know about whether there is splitscreen multiplayer in Battlefield 2042. For more tips, tricks, and guides be sure to check out Twinfinite.
