Using Map Genie for Elden Ring

When first loading up the Lands Between Map Genie page, you might be a little overwhelmed. Not only is the game’s map itself massive, it is also absolutely densely packed with things. You really get a sense of this considering the myriad of things Map Genie gives the option to mark.

The first thing you’re going to want to do is go to the left side of the screen and hit the Hide All button. This will entirely clear the map and make navigating it a little faster. With all the markers active at once, moving the map around isn’t exactly smooth.

Now that the map is entirely clear, go to the Locations section and start scrolling down. There will be several sections, pick what markers you want to have identified on the map.

The sections are:

  • Locations
  • Key Items
  • Items
  • Equipment
  • NPCs
  • Enemies Materials
  • Other

No matter where you are in your journey, at the very least you will want to activate the Site of Grace markers to tell you how far you might be from the closest Site of Grace. Make sure you also turn on the Map Fragment markers under Key Items, these are how you make your map look like it does in the Map Genie. Dungeon is also a helpful marker to have as there is no shortage of helpful equipment and items to be found running through the slew of dungeons in Elden Ring.

Once you have selected all of the map markers you want at this time, move your cursor back over to the map as it is time to locate where you are on the Elden Ring map. This will help you to sync up what’s nearby with the Map Genie page. Moving around the map is as easy as hitting the scroll wheel to zoom, and then just click and hold to drag the map to the location you need.

Once you know where you are, it will be easy to use the map to find what is directly around you. The best move would be to only select a few markers as a time as you move forward so you get a good idea of your surroundings without making surveying the map take more time than it does to play the game.

If you want the option to hide the areas you have found so they don’t continue to clutter up the map, you will have to register a free account on the Map Genie site.

If you want to partially plan out your route to beat the game, you can follow our boss guide. There will be more you need to to do to get to each boss, of course, but at least the map gives you a firm idea of where every boss is located.

Those are the necessary things you need to know for how to use the Map Genie for Elden Ring.
