If you have yet to hear the big news, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is finally being localized for the west and will be releasing on Switch, PS4, and, surprisingly, PC as well on Feb. 23, 2021.
The Musou follow-up to Persona 5 was already released in Japan earlier this year, and there’s actually a demo available to download, but it’s only for Japanese accounts. If you wanted to check out the game for yourself to get a feel for the combat system, or to see how the introduction plays out, we’ll walk you through how to download the demo on Switch.
To make a Japanese eShop account, you’ll want to head over to the System Settings of your Switch, scroll down to Users, and then choose Add User. Go ahead and create a new user, choose an icon, nickname, and then you’re going to have to link a Nintendo account.
Choose the option to create a new account and then send the instructions to your email address of choice. Go through the process of creating the account but once it asks you to choose your country/region, make sure to put Japan in there, or else you won’t be able to access the Japanese eShop.
Once that’s all set up, go into the eShop with the new account and then search for Persona. The game should pop up as the first option on the top of the search results. Select it and then choose the second option on the right to download the demo.
You can purchase the Japanese version of the game but it will cost 9680 Yen, which equates to about $92. We would recommend just waiting for the western release, so you can actually understand what’s going on in the game unless you understand Japanese of course.
You can also download the demo on the PS4, but you’ll need to also create a Japanese PSN account which shouldn’t be much of an issue.
