How to Fish & Get a Fishing Rod in Harvest Moon Light of Hope
Harvest Moon Light of Hope is an all new adventure in the beloved franchise. People that are used to the series’ antics know that there are certain staples that will always be around. Such staples as fishing! Here’s how to get a fishing rod and fish within the game.
First and foremost, you’re going to need to repair the aristocrat’s house. Yes, the main mechanic of this game is actually really important. You need to fix places before you can utilize them. In any case, head to the main town square and go to the east. You’ll see a run down house with a pink roof. That’s the one you’re looking for. Fix it and you’ll have fixed the aristocrat’s house, you’ll find out.
Once you do, wait a couple of days and you’ll be visited by the aristocrat. He’ll be starving and you’ll need to give him food. You can give him any edible crop and he’ll be good to go. When you do that, he’ll bestow upon you the coveted fishing rod.
To use the rod and fish, face any body of water and press X on your controller. You’ll need to leave the reel there. I recommend using at least normal bait (which you can buy at the vendor in the main town square) because it greatly speeds this process up. In any case, you need to wait until a fish starts nibbling, but you won’t do anything still, yet. You need to wait some more at that point.
Once a fish bites down so hard that you see an exclamation (and only then) can you press X and start mashing the button to reel it in and catch it.
