Wizards Unite, the new game that’s from the creators of Pokemon GO and based on the wizarding world of Harry Potter, is out for mobile devices now. It features Harry Potter themed equivalents of almost everything that’s a part of Niantic’s last game, but there are some limitations. Here’s everything you need to know about whether Wizards Unite supports adventure sync.
Is Adventure Sync Supported in Harry Potter Wizards Unite?
Unfortunately, the game does not have the feature at launch. Adventure Sync was not included in Pokemon GO from launch, with it only being added as part of an update back in October of last year, but it has been a welcome addition.
Since these AR mobile games tend to use a lot of battery power when open, Adventure Sync was great in Pokemon GO as it tracked your walking distance even when the game was closed, allowing you to work towards hatching eggs without paying attention to the screen.
Wizards Unite has an equivalent of eggs, which are called Portkeys. As you’d expect, you have to walk a certain distance for each one to activate them and go to the wizarding world location tied to them. For more on Portkeys, you can check out our guide on them.
However, as of right now, you’re going to have to open up the app and have the screen on for the game to track your walking distance. That’ll limit the use of portkeys in the game, but I imagine that you won’t have to wait long for the feature to be added.
Niantic hasn’t said anything about it yet, but since Adventure Sync came to Pokemon GO last year, it’d be a surprise if it didn’t come over to Wizards Unite sometime soon as well. Of course, if and when it does, we’ll be sure to update you here.
