Halo Wars 2: How to Upgrade Units During a Match

Upgrading Units – Halo Wars 2

Recommended Videos

In traditional RTS fashion, Halo Wars 2 has many functioning parts that you’ll need to take advantage of during battle. You’ll need to juggle various structures, units, powers, and more in order to strategically beat your enemy. One vital aspect in each match is making sure to upgrade your units, both with specific research and in overall power. Luckily, there’s an easy way to do this.

First off, you’ll need supplies and power to build and research anything, so you’ll need to build Supply Bases and Generators to automatically gain these. For upgrading units, you’ll specifically need power. Upgrades can always be found at any buildings like the Barracks, Armory, Vehicle Garage, and basically anything with the specific use of building units. When you click on a building, you’ll see the available units on the right side, and any research that can be done on the left side. Simply move your stick to which option you want and hit A to start the research.

Certain buildings have both unit-specific research to do, and research that generally just improves the level of all units produced there, thereby boosting their power and usefulness. The level boosting research is always found at the very top of the radial wheel and can be found at the following buildings: Barracks, Garage, Airpad, and for the Banished Raid Camp, Apex, and Foundry. It should be noted that in order to do some research, your overall base level will need to be either two or three.

Additionally, it’s always a good idea to build the Armory for the UNSC or the War Council for the Banished. These buildings let you construct hero characters and research useful upgrades like boosting your population cap or reducing build time in general.
