Which Skills You Should Choose

When going into battle in Ghost Recon Wildlands, you will need to make sure that you have the best skills equipped to make the most out of your soldier. Given that skill points and resources aren’t always easy to obtain, this means that you will want to start investing in the right abilities to get the most bang for your buck. There are five skill trees in Ghost Recon Wildlands, each with their set of power-ups to unlock for your weapons, drone, or base soldiers. We will not be including any Epic Skills as those are all just great and really should be obtained as soon as possible anyway.

The Weapon skill tree is focused around your arsenal and what kind of bonuses and modifications you can give them. This will be the most subjective as everyone has a different play style when it comes to actually using the various different kind of weapons so we won’t focus on more specific perks like Stable Aim for snipers or Hip Fire Spread for shotguns.

  • Grenade Launcher – You will come across a lot of vehicles in Ghost Recon Wildlands, so making sure that you have a way to deal with them is going to be key. The grenade launcher skill is a wonderful addition to any arsenal, as it can quickly destroy any base car and most armored jeeps you encounter. Make sure to practice with it as you will eventually have to deal with helicopters, so being able to quickly knock them out of the sky will save you a lot of headaches down the road.
  • ADV Suppressor – This skill removes the damage drop-off you get when you equip a suppressor, which makes every shot with it now just as powerful as a normal rifle round. Having this is critical as it allows you to drop more heavily armor foes quickly without needing to worry about changing up every time an engagement gets loud.
  • VHC Destruction – Engaging with enemies in a vehicle is inevitable in Ghost Recon Wildlands, so if you upgrade this it will allow your base guns to do more damage against them. This is especially useful for when you’re in car chases and firing a grenade launcher is too unruly or inaccurate. Given that a fair amount of resource missions are escort-based, this is a must-have for any character.
  • Ammo Capacity – This skill simply increases how much ammo you can carry with you for your main guns and sidearm. Given that some engagements can last for quite a while, not having to always run to a resupply crate could certainly save your life.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Drone Skills

Which Skills You Should Choose

The drone is perhaps your most useful tool in all of Ghost Recon Wildlands as it allows you to both mark targets and scout an entire enemy base all while remaining undercover. It’s incredibly difficult to detect on the base layout, making it a fantastic surveillance tool for those who want to have a bit of knowledge before charging into battle.

  • Night Vision – Given that Ghost Recon Wildlands has a rather long day and night cycle, it’s more than likely that eventually you will have to conduct a mission in the dark. Since your drone does not come with Night Vision right away, having this is a must. Not only will this making scouting an area easier, but it will also allow you to mark enemies without having to try and spot them moving around in the dark.
  • Range – Your drone has a very limited range when you first get it so being able to extend that is critical to mapping out an entire stronghold. This allows you to simply toss the drone out once and scout the entire location without having to keep throwing the drone out as you slowly advance through the base itself, all while hoping you don’t get spotted in the process.
  • Mark Area – Unlocking this means your drone will now have a wider field of vision when it comes to marking targets. This allows you to spend less time searching for specific individuals and just point the camera in a certain direction to tag all the enemies.
  • EMP – If you want to be a bit more tactical with your drone, then we recommend the EMP ability. This allows you to knock out all electronic devices within its effective range, meaning that alarms, generators, and lights will all fry once used. If you are a person who favors stealth, this is a wonderful way to not only distract the guards, but also ensure that you can move in the cover of darkness without shooting at a light to possibly give your position away.
  • Explosive – Much like the EMP, this turns your little drone into a flying bomb that’s capable of crippling an entire vehicle upon detonation. Use this to either initiate an attack, turn the Unidad and cartel hostile against one another, or remove a high priority targets ability to escape via a helicopter.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Item Skills

Which Skills You Should Choose

Items are the various different explosives and gear that you can carry into battle. While many of them are situational, there are a few that are perfect to carry. Remember, many of these items cannot all be equipped at the same time so you will need to make some tough choices as to what to bring into the field. On top of this, a lot of these different tools have an ammo capacity, so you will want to make sure to know when and how to use them. The last thing you want is to be attacked by an armored convoy when you are out of C4 or grenades to throw at them.

  • Parachute – The skies of Bolivia are not safe as both enemy choppers and surface to air missiles litter the landscape which can make flying dangerous. In order to survive being shot out of the sky, you will want to obtain the parachute skill, which automatically gives the player this life-saving item even if they aren’t in a plane. Since aerial insertions are great for getting behind enemy lines, having this will allow you to get the drop on the Santa Blanca soldiers.
  • C4 – Is there any problem that cannot be solved with the proper use of explosives? C4 is an exceptionally versatile tool that can breach doors, blow up key cartel items, lay waste to vehicles, or just blow up soldiers that have you pinned down. Pick this one up as soon as you can since it could very well save your life down the line.
  • Thermal Vision – When you are exploring the vast country of Bolivia, there will be sections of the game that are set in entirely wooded areas. This makes tracking targets very difficult even with night vision on, so Thermal Vision is a great way to stay one step ahead of your foes. Being able to see them from a distance, regardless of how thick the vegetation is will help you plan a route to either killing or avoiding them entirely.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Physical Skills

Which Skills You Should Choose

Physical skills in Ghost Recon Wildlands are simply base buffs to your character’s overall performance such as stamina, health, and how quiet they are when moving. You’ll usually want to upgrade this skill tree along with the other ones to ensure a steady progress of your character. It’s very easy to be killed in a high-level region, so having as much help as possible will ensure your survival.

  • Bullet Resistance – Regardless of how sneaky you are, eventually you’ll be thrown into a firefight against heavily armed enemies. Bullet Resistance simply reduces the damage you take from infantry firearms, making you harder to kill. Always upgrade this skill as you go along, as eventually you will be tasked with fighting entire bases full of men.
  • Car Shield – There’s a surprising number of car chases that take place in Ghost Recon Wildlands, so just having better armor for your vehicles is always nice. Since many of the Santa Blanca vehicles come equipped with miniguns, being able to not be reduced to just a heap of twisted steel is always nice. Plus, more armor means you can be a bit more reckless when you drive and run enemies off the road if need be.
  • Detection – It’s actually rather easy to be spotted in Ghost Recon Wildlands, so reducing your detection rate is incredibly important. Stealth is one of the best ways to remove troublesome enemies without engaging in a full-on firefight, so making sure they don’t sound an alarm if you step out into the open by accident could save a lot of headaches and game overs.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Squad Skills

Which Skills You Should Choose

While relying on the A.I. is not always ideal in Ghost Recon Wildlands, there are a few skills you can pick up to make your life easier. It’s usually good to just play with friends online, as this allows you to perform more elaborate attacks and infiltrations against cartel bases. Yet, if you are using the A.I., consider grabbing these skills first to minimize any problems they may cause.

  • Extra Sync Shot – If you are going to grab any skill early on, make sure to upgrade Extra Sync Shot as soon as possible. Being able to add a second and eventually third insta-kill move to your team will let you wipe out entire patrolling squads without them even knowing what happened. This is a critical skill for the stealth-focused player so nab this one right away.
  • Born Leader – This is a nice perk to have simply because it increases your A.I. teammates’ damage, and will help you out if you’re pinned down or waiting for your health to regenerate. Since your allies are very hard to kill, this makes them quite valuable once you increase their damage output.
  • Revive Speed – This simply decreases how long it takes for you to be revived by either your allies or A.I. teammates. Having this as a perk is always nice simply because it will reduce the amount of time the person trying to heal you is exposed. Since enemies can kill you quickly, it’s important that you don’t spend a ton of time trying to pick another person up while enemies converge on your position.
