Plenty of strategy goes into combat in Ghost of Tsushima, as not every scenario calls for head-on action. If you’re someone that likes to plan things out or even knows when to call a tactical retreat, the smoke bomb is going to be your best friend. Here is everything you need to know about how to use smoke bombs in Ghost of Tsushima.
Smoke Bombs are a Ghost Weapon that you’ll unlock at your discretion. At the conclusion of every main story quest, you’ll be given the option to unlock one of five Ghost Weapons. So, if evasion and deception is something you want to incorporate into your combat style, then put a priority on unlocking them.
These items are useful for evading an enemy when you have low health or are overpowered and for attacking someone unseen by using the smoke as cover.
How to Use Smoke Bombs in Ghost of Tsushima
Once you unlock the smoke bomb, you’ll be able to equip it by pressing R2 + down d-pad.
Throwing it is as simple as pressing R1, as it doesn’t aim, it just tracks the nearest target.
After throwing the grenade, smoke goes poof and then the enemy loses sight of you. You can assassinate them, chain assassinate them, or just attack normally once in the smoke.
There is also an upgrade that blinds enemies for a longer time, as well as one that makes the smoke heal you a little.
