With the release of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, Epic has introduced a new gameplay mechanic in the form of anomalies that allow players to enter ‘The Sideways.’ In this guide, we’ll be running you through how to enter The Sideways in Fortnite, what’s different in there, and how to get all Sideways weapons.
How to Enter The Sideways in Fortnite
To enter the Sideways, you want to head to the large orange blob at the beginning of a game. This should show up on your map when you’re on the Battle Bus. So just place a marker on it and make your way to it.
When you get close, you’ll spot the anomaly pretty clearly. It’s a large orange bubble surrounding one of the POIs across the map.
Simply fly or walk into it to enter The Sideways in Fortnite.
What’s Different in The Sideways?
The Sideways is a low-gravity area, so you’ll be able to jump around and hang in the air for longer. On top of that, you can’t build in these anomalous areas, so you’ll need to rely on your combat skills and quick movements to survive.
However, the main thing you’ll want to be aware of is that The Sideways has Sideways Chests. These can be opened to get Sideways weapons which act just like any other weapon in the game.
What’s so special about them then? Well, the Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun deal bonus damage when revved up to their superpowered state, which is just before they overheat. As such, you’ll need to be quick with your trigger finger in order to get the most out of them.
Finally, if you defeat any Cube Monsters in The Sideways, then you may be able to get Sideways weapons or Cube Monster parts. These parts are a crafting ingredient which can be used to upgrade Sideways weapons. So be sure to grab some of these before leaving an Anomaly to make any weapons you find from eliminated players even more deadly.
All Sideways Weapons
There are currently three Sideways weapons we’ve found in Fortnite. These are:
- Sideways Lightblade
- Sideways Minigun
- Sideways Rifle
If any other Sideways weapons are added into the game or simply haven’t been found by the community yet, we’ll be sure to add them to the list above.
That’s everything you need to know on how to enter The Sideways in Fortnite and what’s different. For more tips, tricks and guides, be sure to search for Twinfinite, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
