How to Sidegrade Weapons at Upgrade Benches

To sidegrade a weapon in Fortnite, you’ll first want to make sure you’ve got an Assault Rifle. Only the Assault Rifle can be sidegraded to a Heavy Assault Rifle at this moment in time.

With an Assault Rifle acquired, head to an upgrade bench and walk over to it. You’ll now see two options. The first will be to upgrade your Assault Rifle to the next rarity, making it even more powerful. To do this, you press E on PC, X on Xbox One, Square on PS4 and Y on Nintendo Switch.

To sidegrade your weapon, you’ll instead want to press F on PC, Y on Xbox One, Triangle on PS4, or X on Nintendo Switch.

Keep in mind that sidegrading requires 20 Wood, 20 Brick, and 20 Metal. If you don’t have these materials, you won’t be able to sidegrade your weapon at an upgrade bench.
