It’s a new season in Fortnite, and that means there’s a new Battle Pass, cosmetics, weapon pool and map for players to enjoy. One of the main things fans look forward to is the new named locations and other changes that are introduced at the beginning of a new season. As such, here’s everything you need to know about the Fortnite Season 8 map, so you can be all ready when you hop onto the Battle Bus for the first time.
What the Fortnite Season 8 Map Looks Like
You can check out a screenshot of the new Fortnite Season 8 map below:
The main changes on the map are the different crash sites of the mothership that have formed as a result of the Season 7 event. Here, players can find anti-grav tunnels they can use to quickly navigate the area, as well as a bunch of small Cubes (or Shadow Stones) that can be consumed to allow players to turn invisible and quickly dash around for a limited time.
The other thing to keep an eye out for is the Golden Cube. The Season 8 patch notes hint that the ‘others (cubes) seem to almost… follow it,’ so you can bet your bottom dollar this’ll play a part in the story as it unfolds this season.
All New Named Locations in Fortnite Season 8
Currently, there are no new named locations on the Fortnite Season 8 map. Instead, we have the crash zones which are the orange sections of the map, reminiscent of the desert section from last chapter.
Corny Complex has been renamed to Corny Crops, and Holly Hedges has returned to its normal name after a brief stint as Holly Hatchery when the aliens took over it last season.
The only other thing to mention is the Sideways. Each match a certain POI will be covered in the Sideways, which are called Sideways Zones. Entering one of these can net you the special Sideways Weapons, but you’ll also need to take on some Cube Monsters when you enter an Anomaly.
