Fortnite Battle Royale is now available on pretty much every major platform, offering up some free-to-play action that’s very similar to that seen in PUBG. Players must grab all of the gear they can carry and be the lone survivor at the end of the action. Of course, with this being a free-to-play multiplayer title, many players will be hoping that it has cross-play functionality.
Is There Cross-Play in Fortnite Battle Royale?
The good news is that yes, Fortnite Battle Royale is cross-play and can be enjoyed with your friends regardless of what platform you’re all playing on. That means that if you’re playing on Xbox Series X, you can play with your friend who’s on PS5, and another who’s on PC, and a Switch player to round out your Squad.
Even mobile players can get in on the cross-play fun, too. Essentially, whatever platform you’re playing Fortnite on, you’ll be able to play with your friends on whatever platform they’re on.
You do need to consider that Fortnite will automatically matchmake you into lobbies with people who are on the same platform as the person running the ‘best version’ of the game, so to speak.
For example, if you’re playing on PS5, someone else is playing on mobile, and another friend is playing on PC, Fortnite will automatically put you in lobbies against other PC players, as it wouldn’t be fair for you all to be playing against mobile players who have a lower resolution and more finnicky controls.
