If you’re looking to increase your professor level during free time without spending any Activity Points, then fishing can be a great way to do just that. Unfortunately, even if it doesn’t cost Activity Points, you will need bait to go fishing. Problem is, the bait’s a finite resource that you’ll need to keep finding. Here’s how to get more bait in Fire Emblem Three Houses.
How to Get Bait for Fishing in Fire Emblem Three Houses
There are a couple of different ways you can get bait for fishing in Fire Emblem Three Houses, but you’ll be fairly limited in your options during the opening stages of the game. Prior to chapter six in Act 1, players will have to simply keep an eye out for the blue orbs glowing around the monastery. These can be bait, but can also be other random items to help you on your adventure.
Additionally, if you complete side missions during your free days, you’ll be able to get bait as a reward, which is always welcomed if you’re an avid angler in the world of Fire Emblem Three Houses.
The best way to get bait for fishing, however, comes when you reach chapter six in Act 1. At this point, you’ll be able to purchase the different types of bait from the southern and eastern merchants once they open up their stores. These can be found in the Marketplace area of the Monastery, but keep in mind, much like Master Seals, stock is limited.
There are five different types of bait in Fire Emblem Three Houses which can be purchased from these merchants or found around the Monastery. These are rated from one-star through to five-star, with the best bait having the highest, five-star rating.
- Insect Larva – One-Star
- Pond Snail – Two-Star
- Earthworm – Three-Star
- Blowfly – Four-Star
- Herring Bait – Five-Star
How to Go Fishing
You can only fish at the Fishing Pond. This can be found in the south of the Monastery. Speak to the NPC here and you’ll be able to begin the fishing mini-game.
Once you get a bite during the mini-game, you’ll need to wait for the A button prompt to flash up on the screen. As soon as you see it, press A.
You’ll then need to press A when the ring closing in hits the marker in the center of the screen. The more centered the ring is on the marker, the more health you’ll deplete from the health bar of your scaley friend. This can be found in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Get your timings wrong here, however, and the fish will deal damage to your rod, the health of which is in the bottom left corner. To successfully catch a fish, keep pressing A whenever the ring is on the marker to completely deplete a fish’s health bar.
