That said, there are times when the game mixes things up and takes off the training wheels for a bit of exploring. While turning off the sun lamps in the second Mako reactor bombing mission in Sector 4, you have the ability to claim two optional materia if you want. Getting the Collapsed Passageway Materia in Sector 4 in Final Fantasy VII Remake

First progress through until you’ve powered down the first two sun lamps and now you’re on the way to the third. Instead of heading to the path towards the final sun lamp, look for the following ladder that will bring you down to the lower level beneath it. The two pictures below should help you pin point the location in case you’re having trouble.

From there, the path towards the materia is linear but you’ll need to find two Queen Grashtrike. They are not pushovers, use Blizzard and try to focus them down one at a time to get their stagger up as soon as possible.

The materia you get is the Elemental Materia which adds the element of a linked materia to your equipment and infuses your attacks with that element and also gaining reistance of said element. It will work with any linked fire, ice, lightning or wind materia.

Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Remake is quite powerful and unique, so definitely make sure to take advantage of this one when you’re facing off an enemy with an easy to exploit elemental weakness.
