HQ Item Gathering Changes Explained – FFXIV: Endwalker

So let’s cut right to the chase. It is literally no longer possible to gather high-quality HQ items as of FFXIV: Endwalker. You’ve gathered your last HQ item now that the patch has gone live. No more HQ fish, lumber, ores, etc.

Now, let’s explain what that means for you. If you have any HQ items those are not getting removed, deleted from your inventory, or made useless. You can still use any HQ items you have laying around exactly the way that you used NQ items before. You just can’t find any new HQ items, whenever you gather you’ll just get NQ items from now on.

Now, instead of getting an HQ item, whenever you would have normally procced an HQ item you’ll get the Gatherer’s Boon effect which will increase the items you gather by 1. Anything that previously helped you get HQ will now help trigger Gatherer’s Boon instead.

When it comes to fishing, things are a little bit different. Instead of catching HQ fish, you’ll catch “large-sized fish” instead. Every time you catch a large-sized fish you’ll gain a stack of Angler’s Art which allows you to perform key Fishing actions such as Mooch and Patience.

Otherwise, everything else should feel mostly the same. Anything that required you to turn in HQ items in the past will now require you to trigger Angler’s Art or Gatherer’s Boon.

That’s all you need to know about the high-quality gathering item changes in FFXIV: Endwalker. For more on FFXIV: Endwalker, make sure to search our latest guides and news content right here.
