How to Get Blood Samples in the Ounce of Prevention Quest in Fallout 76
Any good Bethesda game has a helping of side quests to entertain players with tasks that go off the beaten path, and Fallout 76 has them in spades. One in particular though, the Ounce of Prevention quest, may give some players pause as to how to complete it, so we’re here today with a guide on how to get blood samples in the Fallout 76 Ounce of Prevention quest.
On paper, Ounce of Prevention is a pretty straight forward quest compared to others available in Fallout 76. Members of Vault 76 are tasked with going out into the wasteland to collect blood samples from some of the mutated creatures of post-apocalyptic West Virginia; specifically, from a Feral Ghoul, a Mole Rat, and a Wolf.
While Fallout 76 players are more than welcome to wander the wastes in search of these creatures as they come, the quest streamlines the process by highlighting areas in which the creatures are active and can be found quickly. To view these areas, open up the map with the options button on PlayStation 4 or the menu button on the Xbox One.
Once opened, the areas the creatures can be found in will be highlighted with yellow circles. By hovering over these circles with the map cursor, the specific creature that can be found will be revealed.
With this information, head out and track down one of each of these creatures. It may still take some time, but shouldn’t be too much of a hassle as long as you’re in the proper areas. Once the creature is found, kill it, and then examine the body as if you were going to loot it.
The option to collect one of the blood samples needed should pop up, and you can trigger the action with either the triangle or Y button, based on which console you’re playing on. Once extracted, the creature will be ticked off the quest objectives list. Rinse and repeat for all three, and you’ll have completed another quest in Fallout 76.
Hopefully this makes completing Fallout 76’s Ounce of Prevention quest a little easier. Fallout 76 is set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 14.
