How to Craft Items in Elden Ring

The ability to craft items is not available from the get-go, but it only takes a few minutes from the beginning of the game. Upon starting off your journey in Limgrave, head towards the Church of Elleh in the northwest direction. Do avoid the Tree Sentinel enemy that is patrolling on horseback unless you want a quick death.

  1. Find the Church of Elleh, northwest of your starting position.

  2. Purchase the Crafting Kit from Kale the merchant.

  3. Bring up the menu and choose Item Crafting, then select the item you want to craft.

You’ll be able to unlock more crafting options by obtaining Cookbooks, which you can get as either item pickups or purchased from the various merchants you meet in the game.

Your recipes will be limited at the start, but that can be bolstered by all kinds of recipe books that can be purchased or found in the world.
