How to Complete the It Takes Two to Tango in Dragon Quest XI

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is filled to bursting with interesting and useful side quests, not least of which is the quest titled It Takes Two to Tango.

As players make their way across the land of Erdrea on their mission to stop the Lord of Shadow from sparking an age of darkness and despair, they’ll come across their fair share of side quests. These can range from a simple scavenger hunt for a rare book to a daring assault on a dangerous creature plaguing a town, and lead to useful rewards which can be everything from powerful new equipment to a sizable amount of gold.

One such quest is It Takes Two to Tango. Found early on in Dragon Quest XI through an NPC at the Helidor church, it tasks players with using a specific pep power called “The Real Decoy” to take down a monster, any monster will do. To complete the quest simply and efficiently, you can simply grind on the monsters immediately to the north of the church.

For this quest it’s easiest to set Erik’s tactics to follow commands, so you have control of him and when he uses pep powers. Simply battle enemies until both the hero and Erik are pepped up.  At this point head to the next battle, or use pep powers on a character’s turn in the current one, then select The Real Decoy. A flashy animation will play out and voila, you’ve completed the objective. Note that the quest will not be considered complete until a monster has been dispatched with the pep power specifically; any other means of defeat will not count toward the quest’s completion. You then need to head back to the church and talk to the warrior that gave you the quest.

Dragon Quest XI is set to release on PlayStation 4, PC and the Nintendo Switch. For more on the game, check out our full review to see what sets the game above other entries in the series and JRPGs in general. For more tips and tricks, head over to our wiki for everything you need to know.
