How to Complete A Cactus Cutlet to Die For in Dragon Quest XI
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age has brought the series back to the west at full force, and with it a slew of quests to help players engage with the game world.
In addition to the main quest, which tasks players with gathering allies and defeating a dark lord set to summon an evil, otherworldly force to rain despair upon the land, Dragon Quest XI also has a number of side quests for players to take on along the way. These can range from simple fetch quests and breezy chats with different NPCs, to daring confrontations with troublesome beasts who threaten the safety of the land’s townsfolk.
One such side quest, found in Gallopolis, is A Cactus Cutlet to Die For. Offered in the pursuit of a legendary dish, it tasks players with tracking down a rare form of cactus monster to obtain a golden globule from it, the likes of which can allow a chef to craft a cutlet so fine it charms the senses. This is easier said than done though, as it only comes from a golden variant of the cactus monster that commonly appears in the game.
The best way to go about this quest is simple: While near the city and in an area where the round cactus monsters appear, players must defeat as many as necessary until a golden cacti monster appears. There is no set amount that need to be destroyed; a golden cacti monster could appear after one is defeated, or after 100 fall. Stay patient, and with luck one will appear before long. After it has been dispatched and the golden globule gathered, the player can turn in to the quest giver and receive their reward.
Dragon Quest XI is set to release on the PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch. For more on the game, check out our review to see what sets it apart from other entries in the series. For more tips and tricks, check out our wiki for everything you need to know.
