How to Super Finish in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

Super Finishes are ultra-flashy animations that play out at the end of a battle, if you meet the requirements. These are like the ridiculous finishers of past Dragon Ball games, such as Goku blasting someone into space with his Kamehameha.

Before we get into how to do it, we should say that you can’t do a Super Finish until you unlock transformations. This means that you’ll have to advance at least until Goku gets the Kaio Ken, which happens partway through the Frieza saga.

Time needed: 5 minutes

Here’s how to do a Super Finish in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot.

  1. The first step in a Super Finish is that you’re chosen character will need to be in a transformation, so Kaoi Ken, Super Saiyan, etc. The transformation can be used by pressing LT+RT (L2+R2) then selecting the corresponding face button.

Only certain characters can go Super Saiyan, and you’ll need to unlock their transformation first. These characters are Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Gotenks, and Vegito.

  2. Next, you’ll need to enter Surge. We have a guide on how to do this, but for the quick explanation you need to fill the Tension gauge next to the character portrait then hold Y (triangle) until you Ki bar is full and then a few seconds past it to enter Surge.

  3. Finally you’ll need to finish an enemy with a Super Attack, done by holding LB (L1) and pressing a face button. This means completely depleting their health and ending the battle.

Since many enemies have lots and lots of health, you may want to not use Super Saiyan and Surge until you have your opponent below one health bar.

Using a Super Finish will see a crazy animation play out, and the first time you do so you’ll also be treated to the Flashy Finish achievement/trophy.
