Doom Eternal gives you plenty of crazy, demon destroying weapons during your playthrough of the campaign, but there’s an extra one that you need to work extra hard to unlock. So that you can blast holes in zombies even easier, here’s everything you need to know about how to get the Unmakyr in Doom Eternal.
It is a weapon that long-time Doom fans will know well, since it appeared in earlier games under a different name. It is a huge rifle that shoots the same ammo as the BFG but at a much faster rate.
How to Get Unmakyr in Doom Eternal
Rather than getting it as part of the story, you need to do something specific to unlock the Unmakyr. You need to complete each of the game’s six Slayer Gates.
You’ll see what they look like above and completing one gives you an Empyrean Key, which is what you need to use to unlock the Unmakyr. You’ll find Slayer Gates in the following levels:
- Exultia
- Cultist Base
- Super Gore Nest
- Arc Complex
- Mars Core
- Taras Nabad
Just work your way through the game, completing them as you go, or go back to the missions separately afterwards, and collect the keys.
Something to note is that you cannot play Doom Eternal with any cheats enabled if you’re looking to complete Slayer Gates, collect Empyrean Keys, and unlock the Unmakyr.
Once you have all six though, head back to the Fortress of Doom hub area, turn around from where you spawn and head past the next couple of rooms. When you can, jump off the side of the walkway and you’ll spot the Unmakyr in the middle of the platform. Go up to it and press R3 and you’ll grab it.
Once you’ve done so, you’ll also unlock a secret trophy/achievement called Meet Your Unmakyr.
Time needed: 2 hours
In short, to get the Unmakyr in Doom Eternal:
- Complete all six Slayer Gates without any cheats enabled
- Head to the Fortress of Doom
- Head to the platform it is located on and interact with it
