How to Get Weapon Dyes & Skins in The Division 2
Collecting loot is a big part of The Division 2, and as you progress through the game you’ll be collecting, swapping, and customizing gear constantly. That also applies to weapons, too, which come in all shapes and sizes, do varying amounts of damage, and can be modified with different attachments. You can also change their color using weapon skins, which is the equivalent of dyes for your gear. Here’s how to get weapon dyes and skins in The Division 2.
First of all, it’s worth noting that you’ll only be able to change the color of your weapon if the weapon in question has a gear slot. Typically, only specialized gear or higher level gear have this option available. In other words, only Blue, Purple, and Gold weapons can have their color changed.
How to Get Skins in The Division 2
They can be found in boxes scattered across D.C. In our experience, a reliable source of boxes containing weapon skins are the orange airdrop crates/boxes. Many of these can be seen with their parachutes still attached, caught up in trees or difficult to reach places.
Most of these boxes contain crafting gear, gear dye, and weapon skins. As for their location in The Division 2, a good rule of thumb is that they appear near safe houses. But if you want exact locations, head to Division2map.com and filter for airdrop crates.
How to Equip Skins
To equip a weapon skin in The Division 2, first open your inventory and select the weapon you want to change the skin for, then access the Mods screen. You’re now looking the Skin Slot, which is the circular slot near the butt of the rifle. Note, you’ll need to scroll through the mod slots using WASD commands if you’re on PC.
Once you’ve found the skin you’re wanting to equip, simply hit Apply.
