Whether you’re doing a High or Low Chaos run in Dishonored 2, Bonecharms are extremely important because of their traits and the kind of benefits they can bring to you. For starters, don’t just dismiss corrupted Bonecharms because of the negative traits they come with. While some negative traits may be harmful to players going for kills and High Chaos, they might be more beneficial to stealthy players who try to avoid direct confrontation at every turn.

For the really sneaky players, Zephyr is the one negative trait that you’ll want to have on your Bonecharms. While it does increase the amount of damage you take from enemies, it also greatly increases your walking and running speed. This is invaluable for players who like moving around quickly and quietly. Since Low Chaos players will hardly ever get into fights anyway, the increase in damage intake shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

There are tons of other positive traits that can come with your Bonecharms as well, and don’t forget that you can stack effects when you’ve unlocked and upgraded the crafting ability.

Hide Your Bodies

Enemies will be put on alert and start a manhunt if they discover bodies (dead or not) lying around. A Low Chaos run doesn’t mean you have to be a complete ghost, but it certainly does help. If you’re running a build that’s low on health, you’ll also want to be extra careful in getting rid of the bodies as you wouldn’t want to get into a fight with guards that are on the lookout for you.

Consider dumping the bodies in secluded areas, or rooms where you know other patrolling guards won’t wander off to. Make sure to pay extra attention to patrol routes, and be aware of your surroundings at all times. On the other hand, if you do have to kill someone, at least make sure no one sees the blood just flowing around. Purchase the Shadow Kill ability to eliminate someone without leaving traces.

Be Merciful

A Low Chaos run in Dishonored 2 simply means killing fewer people in the game. Before anything, it’s good to remember that killing Clockwork Soldiers or other non-human enemies does not count towards your Chaos level. Only by killing guards, civilians, and other humans will your Chaos level rise. With that in mind, feel free to save your lethal weapons and bullets for these mechanical enemies.

As for the rest of your flesh and blood foes, remember that there’s always a way to resolve matters without resorting to bloodshed. Instead of going straight to an assassination target and stabbing him in the face, consider other possible methods of incapacitating him. You could trap him in a room with enough food and water to last a day, as the first mission would have you do, and interrogate him for all the information you need before leaving.

Choose Your Abilities Wisely

Dark Vision, Shadow Kill, and Agility are the three most important abilities you should go for if you’re planning on a Low Chaos run in Dishonored 2. First off, Dark Vision allows you to see through walls and identify enemy silhouettes. This lets you check out an enemy’s patrol route, and plan your progression accordingly. Upgrade it even further, and you’ll get to see security traps and alarms. Upgrade it fully for the Premonition perk and the game will straight up show you the enemy’s patrol routes and area coverage.

Shadow Kill is a nice base ability to have but isn’t really worth upgrading. When you kill enemies who aren’t aware of your presence, they instantly turn to ash, leaving no trace at all – nice for keeping panic levels down in Dishonored 2. The remaining two upgrades for Shadow Kill will allow you to turn enemies into ash even when engaged in direct combat, and summon Bloodflies to attack them. Sounds neat, but your runes could be better spent elsewhere.

Lastly, Agility helps a lot with your movement in the game and can allow you to jump higher and reach new places. Upgrade it even more, and you’ll run faster and take less damage when falling. The decreased fall damage perk isn’t essential, but still nice to have when you’re trying to get away quickly without being seen by your enemies. I recommend grabbing this one only after you’ve unlocked Dark Vision and its upgrades.

Play as Emily

Sure, you can play as Corvo and still manage a Low Chaos run, but it’s just far easier to accomplish with Emily because of the unique abilities she comes packed with. Domino, for instance, is incredibly helpful once you upgrade it because of the ability to link four enemies together at once, and put them all to sleep with a single sleep dart.

The Mesmerize ability will let Emily enthrall enemy troops and make them forget she was ever there, while the Shadow Walk ability reduces the reactive range for enemies. That basically means you can get much closer to foes before they realize you’re a threat. Corvo’s got some neat skills as well, but his unique abilities are more geared towards combat, while Emily is far more inclined towards stealth.
