Now that April has rolled around, the new PS Plus free games are available. Uncharted 4 is complimented by Codemasters’ Dirt Rally 2.0, which is perfect for any racing fans looking for some intense simulation action. If you’re looking to test out the game with a friend, here’s everything you need to know about whether there is splitscreen multiplayer in Dirt Rally 2.0.
Splitscreen has become a forgot bastion of racing video games. A feature that used to be present in pretty much any title in the genre is now almost entirely reserved for the likes of Mario Kart and other casuals racers.
Is There Splitscreen Multiplayer in Dirt Rally 2.0?
Unfortunately, the case isn’t any different in Codemasters’ game. There is no splitscreen multiplayer in Dirt Rally 2.0, with you only being able to face off against other racers online.
The news of the feature’s exclusion was confirmed by the developer on Twitter before its release.
The only suggestion we have is a way you can sort of design your own local multiplayer for the game. While it won’t be splitscreen and you won’t be racing at exactly the same time, it adds some competition to playing the game with someone else from the comfort of your couch.
If you play time trials on rally stages, rather than actually rally cross races, you can take turns and try to beat each others’ time. There’s quite a few tracks in Dirt Rally 2.0 and you can alter things like time of day and weather to make staying on the track easier or harder.
It won’t be quite the same as traditional splitscreen multiplayer, but it’s the best option we have right now.
That’s everything you need to know about whether there is splitscreen multiplayer in Dirt Rally 2.0. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite. You can also check out our review of the game from when it launched last year.
