Since there are various weather conditions that make staying on the track tough and some of the more modern cars have a mind of their own, crashing is easy. If your opponents aren’t great, that’s not an issue, so you need to get the difficulty set to a level that’s a challenge but doesn’t allow you to miss out on the podium every single time.

How to Change Difficulty in Dirt Rally 2.0

Thankfully, you can set the difficulty at pretty much any time in the game. The first time you’ll set it up is when finalising your career mode character.

Just as is the case in all of Codemasters’ modern racing games, difficulty is chosen on a 100 point scale. Each point changes how good the AI racers you’re facing are, allowing you set it at a level that’s perfect for your ability. However, so that you can get an idea of just how difficult each number is, the scale is split into five different categories, which are:

  • Very Hard – 100- 91
  • Hard – 90 – 81
  • Medium – 80 – 61
  • Easy – 60 – 31
  • Very Easy – 30 – 1

Then, you can also change difficulty in Dirt Rally 2.0 before a championship starts by pressing triangle/Y to see the Championship Options, and again where you’re able to tinker with settings and swap out tires before a race. There, select Options, then Game Settings, and change the difficulty.

Finally, you can also change difficulty in Dirt Rally 2.0 during a race. To do so, pause the game with Options if you’re on PS4 (Menu on Xbox One), select Options, then Game Settings, and then adjust slider as normal.

You are also able to turn Hardcore Damage on and off whenever you try to change difficulty. Having it on means you’re more likely to wreck your car if you crash hard.
