How to Unlock and Use Nero’s Devil Trigger in Devil May Cry 5

Recommended Videos

Devil Trigger has been a prominent mechanic in the Devil May Cry series ever since the very first game. The mechanic returns once again in DMC 5 for both Dante and V, however, Nero won’t have access to the ability for the majority of the game. Here’s how to unlock and use Nero’s Devil Trigger in Devil May Cry 5.

It may seem like Nero’s at a bit of a disadvantage in Devil May Cry 5 because of his lack of a Devil Trigger. However, he has plenty of other options to use, such as Devil Breakers, Exceed, and charge bullets.

Unlocking Nero’s Devil Trigger

In order to get Nero’s Trigger, you’ll have to beat Devil May Cry 5 at least once. After the end of the game, Nero will gain access to the mechanic, and you’ll also be able to purchase new abilities for his Trigger via the customize menu. Unfortunately, there’s no way to get it any earlier, but it will make Nero significantly more powerful for subsequent playthroughs.

Using It in Devil May Cry 5

Because Nero already has a use for the LB (L1) button, used to explode Devil Breakers, his Trigger is automatically mapped to the D-Pad. Considering you’ve spent hours with the feature on LB, you might want to remap it by selecting the Options menu from the pause menu or main menu, and then selecting controls.

Devil May Cry 5 lets you completely remap controls however you see fit, so don’t be afraid to change things up. Just like Dante, Nero’s trigger powers up his moves and adds extra attacks/ethereal swords to his combos.

Once you’ve unlocked Nero’s Trigger, you’ll also gain access to a new regular attack, letting Nero grab an enemy with RT (R2) and use a powerful throw on them. This is basically what his Buster Arm Devil Breaker does, but now you can use it at any time.

That’s everything you need to know about how to unlock and use Nero’s Devil Trigger in Devil May Cry 5. For even more tips and guides on the game make sure to search Twinfinite, or check out our extensive guide wiki.
