Veteran Destiny players or those who just started today will be familiar with an Auto Rifle called the Khvostov 7G-02. For years fans have joked around that it should be an exotic weapon, even going as far to Photoshop the weapon with a yellow background. Bungie was listening and decided to make an Exotic version of the oddly loved weapon.

The first thing you’ll need is that original weapon, the one you were given at the very start of the game. If you don’t have it anymore, you’re going to have to start a new character in order to get your hands on one. Once you manage to get one, transfer it to the character who you want to have the quest. Now dismantle it (yes, you have to say goodbye again). This will grant you the Khvostov 7G Schematic that you need to take to the Iron Temple and show to Shiro-4 (when you spawn in he’ll be to your right).

This will kick off a new Exotic Quest called We Found a Rifle that will task you with finding 10 Manual Pages and 3 Gun Parts to continue.

It’s also possible to randomly find the Schematic out in the world behind areas that require a Splicer Relay Code. One location is in the original Cosmodrome area.

You will need to go where the original tank dropped before the Rise of Iron update (its destroyed and covered by snow now). You’ll need a splicer relay code (which can be found by killing “Broodmother” Hive Wizards. From the tank go towards the wall and continue inside until you reach a hallway that’s full of lasers with a computer by it. Put the Splicer Relay into and you’ll be let through. Your ghost will give you some dialogue about stopping a Servitor.

Once you exit the wall there will be a massive Fallen Ketch in front of you. Board it and kill the Servitor. Once it’s dead there will be a chest in the far right corner that will give you the schematic.

From there just follow each new step until you get your weapon. Check back in for updates on the quest.
