What Are Treasure Keys?

Treasure Keys are used to open the chest in Xur’s Treasure Hoard, as noted in the item’s in-game description. This chest at Xur’s Treasure Hoard isn’t just any old chest, though. When opened, it’ll award players with one of the new weapons in the 30th anniversary event.

That means you’ll have a chance of getting any of the Halo weapons that have made their way into Destiny 2, such as the BxR-55 Battler, and Retraced Path.

How to Get Treasure Keys for Xur in Destiny 2

To get Treasure Keys in Destiny 2, you’ll need to complete the Dares of Eternity challenge. This can be accessed by opening your Director and selecting Eternity, located to the bottom left of the Tower and directly underneath the Moon.

Here, select Dares of Eternity and the challenge will begin once matchmaking has completed. Your Fireteam will now need to defeat waves of enemies to fill up a progress bar. When this is full, a final boss will spawn which, when defeated, will award players with a Treasure Key.

You can get one key every time you complete Dares of Eternity, so it’s well worth grinding out repeatedly if you’re eager to get your hands on those Halo weapons in Destiny 2.

Using Treasure Keys

To use a Treasure Key, head over to Xur’s Treasure Hoard within Eternity on your Director. Walk over to Xur and you’ll find a chest next to him. Walk over and press Square on PlayStation or X on Xbox to open the chest.

You’ll now be given one of the legendary weapons added as part of the 30th anniversary event.
