What Max Power (Light) Is in Destiny 2
While max level is a noble goal in Destiny 2 (just like it was in the first game), what really matters is your Power (what this sequel calls Light). Power will determine how much damage you do, how much damage you take, and what activities you can hop on into. You can be level 20, but have a measly Power level of 140 and get wrecked by powerful aliens and other players in the crucible (depending on the mode). So with that being said, shooting for max Power should be your true long-term goal.
And we say long-term for a reason. The game kicks things off with a max Power level of 300. That’s going to require a hell of a lot of grinding, loot collecting, and infusing if you want to take on some of the end game challenges such as Nightfall and the upcoming raid. Don’t worry too much, though, Destiny 2 is much more rewarding than the original game ever was, so you’ll have a steady stream of loot that will help your level climb consistently (though not necessarily quickly).
