synthstrand destiny 2

Destiny 2’s long-awaited transmog system is here, and in typical Bungie fashion it’s way more elaborate than it probably needs to be. No, you can’t just start changing the appearance of your gear; you’re going to need to go through a long process. If you’re here, you’re probably already aware of one of the key ingredients for Destiny 2’s transmog system, Synthstand. Here’s everything you need to know for how to get Synthstrand for transmog in Destiny 2.

How to Get Synthstrand

Let’s cut right to the chase: You’ll need 150 Synthstrand to purchase a bounty from Ada which, upon completion, will allow you to get the Synthweave you need to permanently unlock an armor from your collection as a universal ornament.

To get Synthstrand, you simply need first progress in the quest Tying it All Together and then kill things. Lots of things. Every enemy you kill has a chance of dropping Synthstrand. While we weren’t able to confirm it ourselves just yet, you are apparently able to obtain a single one every two minutes. If true, this means you can’t just recklessly go HAM expecting to farm Synthstrand fast. You’ll just need to play naturally and over time you’ll get what you need.

It’s critical that you wrap up your bounties before the season ends, because all of your Synthstrand and bounties will reset and expire at the start of the next season. Don’t dilly dally if you want to transmog, just get to it. The max amount of armors that you can transmog is ten per season.

That’s all you need to know for how to get Synthstrand in Destiny 2 as of Season of the Splicer. Just kill stuff. For more tips, tricks, and FAQs answered, check out our latest Destiny 2 content here, along with our Beyond Light review and Year 4 wiki guide.
