Destiny 2: Forsaken Gambit Mode – Tips & Tricks for Winning
Tip 1: Create Roles: Killers & Bankers
While you can scrape together wins by collectively playing well, similar to what most people already do in the Crucible, in Destiny 2’s Gambit, coordination always wins out when both team’s skills are more or less even. The bane of Gambit teams in our experience is when everyone is scrambling for motes and they are spread out between four different members instead of just one or two. In this scenario, all four of you don’t have enough to create any larger blockers for the other team, and you’re using your motes inefficiently in that case. Effectively banking motes is key in Destiny 2’s Gambit mode.
Instead, for Gambit, have two members that are dedicated “killers,” they focus on just taking down enemies, hanging back, and largely ignoring motes, and have two members that stay up close to the enemies, perhaps equipped with guns like fusions and shotguns, and they are the ones that actually go and pick up the motes, and bank them.
Keep in mind, you might want to alter this strategy as the game shifts into Gambit’s mid/ late game. Especially if the other team has a strong invader, keeping all your motes in one or two baskets might be dangerous if you’re at risk of that person getting assassinated by an invader. Just make sure at the very least, you’re communicating if you’re playing with friends or even strangers.

Tip 2: Send in the PvP Specialists to Invade
Listen, invading in Destiny 2’s Gambit mode is fun and exciting, and everyone is going to want to try it at some point. But, the fact is, not everyone is good at it. Sure, go play around with it with some randoms, but if you’re trying to play Gambit for wins, your entire team should know ahead of time, who goes into the portal when it’s time to invade. Invading basically shifts Gambit from a PvE event, to a PvP one. The person that’s going in should be very familiar with what guns kill Guardians well, and how to time out their super.
There are exceptions, of course, if someone has a super ready and you need to get someone in there ASAP, like the other team is close to killing their boss, then sure abandon ship and get that person in there to give it a go. But in general, your team should have an idea of who is going to take on the bulk share of invasion opportunities. It should never be, first one to get to the portal gets to go in if your objective is to win.
Make sure whoever is going in has something that can kill the other team quick before they catch onto your position. You really should avoid something like peppering someone with an auto rifle from far away. It’s just going to alert the team to your location and numbers wise, once everyone is on to you, you’ll be at a disadvantage. Have something like a fusion rifle or a sword ready to go so you can lurk up to their location quietly and quickly dispatch them and get out in one piece. Survival is key in Gambit, so go and mess that up for them.

Tip 3: Pay Very Close Attention to The Score and Adapt to It
At all times during a game of Gambit, you can see the current score and progress of both your team and the opposing team. It is super important if you care about playing your very best, that you pay very close attention to that progress as it will guide the decision making of your team. Let me give you a couple of examples that you’ll surely run into while playing Gambit in Destiny 2: Forsaken.
If a portal to the other team is open, and your opponents don’t really have any motes on hand, invading the other side honestly might not be necessary. You can just continue to focus on collecting, banking and hopefully building a lead.
Or, consider a scenario where both teams are on the boss, if the combined efforts of the four of you can take it down and get the win, don’t send someone over to the other side just because you can.
On the flip side, if you’re way behind, say you’re still getting to 75 motes and the other team is on the boss, you’ll want to be constantly sending someone over as much as you possibly can to delay their progress and give you a chance to catch up.
The bottom line is, don’t default to the same game plan every game. You may prefer to play a certain style, but sometimes you’ll need to adapt, the scoreboard is what drives those choices.
That does it for Destiny 2: Forsaken Gambit Mode, tips. Best of luck this weekend, and
