During this week’s weekly reset, Bungie launched the Empyrean Foundation campaign, which is a new community event where the entire player base has to come together to donate resources to build… something. As always, there are rewards to be had from this endeavor in Destiny 2, and we’re here to guide you through it. Here’s everything you need to know about the Empyrean Foundation in Destiny 2.
How to Donate to the Empyrean Foundation
First things first, before you can join in on the community effort, you’ll first need to accept the Bright Future: Heart of the Sundial quest from Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar. Do note that you need to have completed Saint-14’s story quest before you can proceed.
This quest step simply requires you to finish a Sundial run where you’ll face off against a new boss Inotam, who will give you the next quest step titled Brighten the Core.
This quest step requires you to collect 30 Orbs of Light, which is pretty simple. Thanks to the good folks over at the Destiny 2 subreddit, we’ve found that just killing regular enemies at the Tribute Hall in Leviathan with any masterworked weapon will help you collect Orbs very quickly, and with very little resistance.
After that, fly back to the Tower and activate the Tower Obelisk to unlock the Empyrean Foundation itself. Now, you’ll be able to start donating to the effort. After that, just talk to Osiris to complete the quest proper.
With the Empyrean Foundation, you’ll need to donate Polarized Fractaline, which is a new form of currency introduced with this latest Season in Destiny 2.
In addition to that, upon unlocking the Empyrean Foundation, you’ll also receive a certain amount of Polarized Fractaline, which increases depending on how much you’ve leveled up all the Obelisks on the various planets (EDZ, Tangled Shore, etc). The higher your Obelisk levels, the higher your Resonance Power will be, and the more Polarized Fractaline you’ll receive each week.
All you have to do is interact with the Empyrean Foundation Obelisk terminal and donate your Polarized Fractaline to contribute to the effort. It’s worth noting that every 100 Fractaline donated will give you 25% progress towards whatever Timelost Weapon Bounties you have in your possession. So if you really want to maximize your rewards, make sure to grab as many Bounties as you can from the Obelisk before donating each week.
Timelost Weapon Bounties will help to level up your Obelisks, unlocking weapon upgrades and new weapons for you to farm for in the Sundial.
Rewards and Objectives
At the time of writing, there are a total of seven tiers to the Empyrean Foundation in Destiny 2:
- 400,000,000 Polarized Fractaline
- 700,000,000 Polarized Fractaline
- 1,200,000,000 Polarized Fractaline
- N/A
- N/A
- N/A
- N/A
We’ll update the numbers above as the community gets closer to unlocking all seven tiers. It’s not clear exactly what the restoration effort will yield just yet, but from what we know so far, if you manage to donate at least 5,000 Polarized Fractaline during Season of the Dawn, you’ll unlock a Triumph and receive an Emblem.
Once all objectives are met, all players will also receive a shader.
That’s all you need to know about the Empyrean Foundation in Destiny 2 for now. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
