Destiny 2: Can You Change Factions?

Can You Change Factions in Destiny 2?

Recommended Videos

Destiny 2’s first faction rally has begun and players are signing up to represent their favorite group of tower dwellers. Factions in Destiny 2 work a little different than they did in Destiny 1. Rather than being something you can join and stay in for as long as you want, joining a faction is now a timed event.

In return for participating in the event, and completing certain events, you can earn faction tokens which when turned in reward you with faction engrams, aka loot. The faction that does the most will get a heavily discounted purchasable weapon that will only cost 1,000 Glimmer. The losers will have to pay 50,000 for theirs.

Because of this, some players might be wondering if they can change sides after already selecting. Unfortunately this is not the case. There is no way to change factions after you’ve signed up for one. So please choose carefully. You could sign up for one on each character you have to stack the deck, but each character is locked into the one that they first selected.

Presumbly however, because this is a timed event and not permanent. Players will probably be able to change their faction next time around. We cannot confirm that at this time though. It’s just a hunch.
