How to Unlock All Characters in Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles
The majority of the characters in the game can be unlocked by progressing through the Story Mode. In fact, the game forces you to enter the mode’s Prologue Chapter as soon as it starts up. No other menu options involving gameplay will be available until it’s completed.

If it’s not immediately clear how to get the characters you want, the Rewards menu will also show silhouettes of the unlockable characters in each Chapter, so those with keen eyes can easily guess when each one will join the roster.
New characters will also be added to the game in the future. So far, the Lower Five spider demon Rui and the Upper Three martial artist Akaza have been confirmed as upcoming free DLC.
Unlocking Characters With Kimetsu Points
Some of the characters that aren’t tied to simple progression can be a bit troublesome to unlock. If you’d rather skip the tasks involved with unlocking them naturally, you can use Kimetsu Points to buy them. Each character can be bought in the Rewards menu for 4,000 Kimetsu Points.
Kimetsu Points are earned by interacting with the orange glowing clouds like the one in the image above. These are found in the non-combat sections of the Story Mode.
