Arkane Studios‘ stylish and mind-bending first-person shooter, Deathloop, is finally out in the wild, and even though you’ll be spending the majority of your time shooting as you try and break the time loop, you’ll also need to know what to do if your gun runs out of bullets. (Hint: It’s time to rustle some feathers with the ol’ one-two, right?) In this guide, we’ll show you how to melee in Deathloop. Let’s get into it!
How to Melee in Deathloop
In Deathloop, you can kick enemies by clicking in the R3 button on your DualSense controller. In other words, pressing down on the right stick will trigger a kick move, that’ll come in handy for when you’re super close to an enemy or for when you run out of ammo.
In addition to the kick, you’ll also unlock a machete early on in your playthrough (you have to pick this up initially but it is later added to your permanent kit). To use your machete, press L1, and Colt will swing the machete at any unsuspecting victim that’s in front of him. If you’re surrounded, you can spam L1 to slash and stab your way out of any precarious situation.
Finally, when you’re behind an adversary, you can use the machete to do a ‘stealth takedown’ on any unaware enemies by pressing L1 as well. Handy, no?
Of course, we’d suggest only using the melee in a pinch as you’re more likely to take a hit when you get up close and personal. That said, if you run out of ammo and need to defend yourself, using the kick or the machete is a solid choice to get you out of a bind.
