How to Melee in Death Stranding

To melee, simply press Square on your controller. Doing so will cause Sam to swing his fists in whatever direction he’s facing. While we wouldn’t advise trying to melee a BT — that’s just going to end horribly for you — it can be handy for dealing with the MULEs or other human enemies you’ll eventually bump into along the adventure.

Using your melee attack won’t actually use up any of your stamina gauge either. Your stamina gauge will deplete when you’re sprinting or trying to make your way through fast-flowing water, so you’re free to spam this as much as you like to drop any human enemies that get in your way.

Human enemies include a group of thieves called MULES, and Homo Demons, terrorists and who actively try to trigger BTs voidouts cause massive explosions that can level entire cities. Always best to give them a whack around the head whenever you see one, then!

Press Square when you’re close to a human enemy. Don’t melee a BT… it’s really not going to end well.
