The world of Death Stranding is an unforgiving place, full of harsh terrain, supernatural threats, and roving bands of Homo Demens (Latin for “mad men”). While running away from and avoiding fights are usually your best options, you will eventually need to fight back. How to Prepare Weapons
Death Stranding is, among other things, a game about item management. Every time you set out from the safety of your base, you need to decide what packages and equipment to carry. Unless you pick up stuff along the way, you won’t receive anything new until you finish your delivery.
While you have access to an arsenal of weapons in Death Stranding, you can only use what is on hand. For example, the Anti-BT Gun is indispensable since it can hurt the otherwise invincible BT. However, unless you pack the gun for a trip, you can’t magically whip it out to fight the creatures.
If you don’t have a weapon on you, you won’t be able to use it. Simple as that.
How to Change Weapons
In order to quickly change between weapons you’re actively carrying, hold right on the d-pad. This will bring up your quick inventory menu. From there, highlight the weapon you want, press X, and it will be ready for use.
If you don’t see the item you want, however, press R3 (i.e., the right analog stick) to cycle through your equipment pages. If you are carrying a lot of stuff, this might take a while. But, once you find the correct page, just highlight the weapon as usual, press X, and you’re good to go.
