Death Stranding is finally a thing. After years of weird teasers and lots of videos that showed anything other than gameplay, it is finally out and is something we can all play! Stealth is a big part of Death Stranding, like it was in other Hideo Kojima games, so in this guide we’re going to go over how to hold your breath and avoid BTs in Death Stranding.

How to Hold Your Breath in Death Stranding

While most of the time you’re just trying to do your job as the friendly neighborhood mailman, interdimensional shadow creatures often get in the way and give you a hard time. Don’t worry though, all delivery people are trained for this, just consult the guide… this guide.

You can hold your breath to avoid detection from the BTs. You do that by pressing and holding R1.

This makes it much more difficult for the BTs to detect you. The longer you hold your breath though, the more you’ll deplete your stamina bar. Once the stamina bar is drained completely you’ll be forced to take a breath and will risk alerting the BTs.

Avoiding Alerting BTs

Again, the idea is to avoid BTs at all costs. They are bad, so make sure you’re using the breath mechanic to try and slip by them.

If you do alert them, a black ink will surround Sam and inky enemies will attempt to drag him in. Make sure you press Square ASAP to brush them off you, otherwise you will die; which you know, is bad.
