Conan Exiles is now officially out of Early Access, bringing its unique blend of barbarian-based action and gratuitous nudity to PC players everywhere. The game gives offers up a huge amount of customization, with players able to choose the race, armor, gender and physical attributes of their character. Conan Exiles is set in the Conan the Barbarian universe, with the iconic character saving the player at the beginning of the game. Since launching into Early Access, developer Funcom has added a ton of new content to the game. There’s extra locations including a Frozen North area, extra weapons and armor, as well as refinements on several of the survival systems. The world of Conan Exiles is a brutal one, forcing players to manage hunger and thirst as well as fighting off monsters. Players can put together their own army to defend structures from hordes of attacking enemies, in large-scale tower-defense style battles.

There’s a deep crafting system in Conan Exiles which allows players to build everything from weapons and armor, to items to decorate indoor areas. Certain items can be used to imbue armor with energy, altering its properties.

One such item is the Ice Shard. This item can be used to craft a multitude of things in Conan Exiles, including unique helmets, weapons and Altars. In order to start collecting Ice Shards, you must first choose the path of the Frost Giants. Then, you need to craft the Hoar-Frost Hatchet using 15 iron bars and a branch, at the Altar of Ymir. Once you’ve done that, you can gain Ice Shards by using the Hoar-Frost Hatchet on dead bodies and trees. They will then be ready to use as a crafting resource.
