Some weapons are better than others in Modern Warfare‘s Warzone battle royale mode. The Grau 5.56 is generally regarded as the best assault rifle, especially at long to medium range. So that you can kit it out like everyone else has, here’s everything you need to know about how to get the Grau 5.56 in Warzone and what the best loadout is.
The first thing you should know is that the Grau 5.56 was introduced to the game during Season 2, which took place in late 2019 and early 2020. At level 15 of the Battle Pass, players would be given access to the assault rifle to use in classes in both Warzone and Modern Warfare’s standard battle royale.
It was a free unlock though, so you didn’t actually have to purchase the battle pass to unlock it. All you needed to do was play for long enough to reach level 15, which didn’t take long. Therefore, anyone who played Warzone or Modern Warfare for more than a few matches during should have unlocked it.
However, anyone who’s new to the game in Season 3 or later won’t have been able to unlock the Grau 5.56 that way, so they will have to do something else.
How to Get Grau 5.56 in CoD Warzone
With the Season 2 Battle Pass gone, Infinity Ward added some challenges that you need to complete to unlock the featured new weapons. For the Grau, you need to do the following:
- Get 5 kills in a minute when using an Assault Rifle 25 times
Now, that’s not going to be easy in Warzone at all, so you’ll need to either play the full game of Modern Warfare if you’ve got it, where it’ll be nice and simple, wait for a free weekend, or hope that kills in the Warzone pre-game area count towards challenges.
Once you’ve done that, you should find the Grau 5.56 in the Loadout tab of the Modern Warfare menu, under the Assault Rifle section, and you’ll be able to add it to a Custom Loadout to use in a match.
Best Grau 5.56 Loadout & Attachments
As you will know from playing Warzone, either from killcams or picking up lost weapons, there seems to be one particular loadout option that everyone uses.
It all comes from the improved barrel that changes the ironsights and makes the Grau 5.56 unstoppable at long range. The Tempus 26.4″ Archangel is an absolute must use and you can pick your favorites elsewhere, with different attachments being best for different situations.
For example, you might want to remove the stock for close quarters fights. Below is the Grau 5.56 loadout that’s most commonly used and is great for most combat situations.
- Muzzle – Monolithic Suppressor (other suppressors are okay)
- Barrel – Tempus 26.4″ Archangel
- Underbarrel – Commando Foregrip
- Stock – FPS Blackjack
- Ammunition – 50 or 60 round mags
Using a laser, mainly the 1mW undetectable one, can also be a good choice as it helps with accuracy in some situations.
How to Get Improved Ironsights (Tempus 26.4″ Archangel)
The improved sights aren’t actually a scope at all, but rather a side effect of equipping the Tempus 26.4″ Archangel. However, you can’t do that right from the start or when you’ve first unlocked the weapon.
You need to level the Grau 5.56 up to level 36 before you can do so. You can do that by getting kills, doing well in matches, and completing contracts.
Once you’ve hit weapon level 36, equip the barrel and no optic. That will see the iron sights change to what you can see in the screenshot below.
The barrel increases the weapon’s accuracy, range, and control, but lowers mobility.
That’s everything you need to know about how to get the Grau 5.56 in Warzone and what the best loadout is. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide or search for Twinfinite.
